Julian Martin's submission has been accepted for the 2014 National Works on Paper exhibition, held at the Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery, Victoria from 23 May – 20 July 2014, on Saturday 24 May, 4:30 to 5pm. The winner of the $15,000 Acquisitive Prize will be announced at this event along with the works selected for acquisition into the MPRG Collection.
The Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery’s National Works on Paper was established in 1998 and incorporated the former Spring Festival of Drawing and the Prints Acquisitive which began in 1973. National Works on Paper is one of Australia’s most prestigious awards and acquisitive exhibitions. A biennial exhibition, its role is to support and promote contemporary Australian artists working on or with paper.
Julian's work was recently exhibited at New York's Armory Show, presented by Fleisher Ollman Gallery. The Armory Show is a leading international contemporary and modern art fair and one of the most important annual art events in New York. It has become an international institution, combining a selection of the world's leading galleries with an exceptional program of arts events and exhibitions.
Julian Martin has been successful in a submission for the third Rick Amor Drawing Prize Exhibition at the Art Gallery of Ballarat. The exhibition presents shortlisted artists for the Rick Amor Drawing Prize 2014.
Rick Amor, one of Australia's leading contemporary artists, has generously sponsored this $12,000 acquisitive prize for small drawings at the Art Gallery of Ballarat. In sponsoring the prize, Amor says "I hope that this prize gives people one more reason to keep drawing on paper… the most direct and intimate expression of an artist's sensibility".
